Getting a full-fibre line added to your home is a lot easier than you might think.
It takes less than 60 minutes to install your new line and get you connected to ultrafast broadband.
Many homes are still using old copper connections to get their broadband. These were originally installed as phone lines, and have been repurposed over the years to also supply your broadband. Some offer part fibre, where they use fibre to a cabinet on your road, then still use the old copper lines to share this connection to multiple homes.
These connections are slow and outdated. They are unreliable and often struggle to offer a decent connection speed when lots of people are using it at the same time.
Truespeed will give you a brand new, dedicated fibre-optic line installed all the way into your home. Because you don’t share this line with anyone else you’ll get much faster and more reliable speeds, at all times of the day. Full-fibre is the most reliable broadband technology in the country.
When you sign up to Truespeed, you’ll choose an install date for our engineer to come round and get you connected to our network. But before this happens we carry out an initial set-up, normally a week or two before your installation date. Our team will visit to prove the route that our fibre will take from our network to the outside of your home, and identify anything that might hamper your installation, such as a blocked duct or an overhanging tree.
We prefer to use the same route as your existing provider, either via an overhead line or underground. We’ll also try and carry out any external work before the install day, and leave a coil of fibre ready at the entry point. You don’t need to be at home for this, and we’re extremely careful to leave the area clean and tidy.
On your installation day, one of our friendly team will arrive to drill a small hole into your home. This can be within ten metres of where we left the cable on our previous visit. Your new full-fibre line is then inserted through the hole and into a small box we’ll place in your home.
We then connect this box to your router and you’re good to go! The Linksys app will help you change the network name, prioritise devices, and add any additional mesh units you have ordered. It’s also the best way to run a speed test on your new line!
If you’ve requested a phone line this will be connected too, and as long as you haven’t yet cancelled your previous contract we can complete the transfer of your old phone number.
We know our broadband is better, but it’s still great to hear what a difference it’s making for our customers.
