What is a standard installation?
As the majority of the Truespeed Network is installed on wooden poles using overhead (OH) optic fibre cables we classify a Standard Installation as;
From the nearest pole where our fibre distribution point (DP) will be allocated for your property, we will install a 3mm diameter single fibre OH drop cable to the nearest and most direct route to your property and the cable will be attached to a bracket fixed to your wall/facia board etc. We will then tack the cable (maximum of 8mts) to the external side of the wall and drill through to an internal location where we will have recommended the best place to install our router on the external wall to get best coverage for your devices.
Where you do not have poles covering your property we would then install a duct from the nearest distribution point to a “Toby Box” that would be installed at the boundary to your property either in the carriageway, footway or verge. We would then allow up to 10mts of “soft dig” (garden border) to install another duct to the most direct route to your property to the external side of the wall and drill through to an internal location where we will have recommended the best place to install our router on the external wall to get best coverage for your devices. A single fibre 3mm diameter drop cable will then be installed through the duct to connect the DP to your router
Our installation engineers have 90 minutes on a standard install to fully connect you, they are unable to spend longer because other people are waiting to be connected and we pack the calendar full to get as many customers connected per day, so if you feel your connection isn’t standard you must let us know so we can estimate the work and allot the correct amount of time and additional cost that has to be agreed prior to install appointments being confirmed. If you don’t inform us of a non-Standard Install and our engineers arrive for the appointment and estimate that it would take longer than 90mins, then we may have to charge you for an abortive visit or additional works (should they continue with install).
If you think WIFI signal is an issue in your home then let us know before we arrive. Our standard install only covers getting you set up with a router.
If you need a bespoke solution to create perfect wifi coverage in your house we recommend you engage a specific network installation engineer, unfortunately we don’t offer recommendations.
The router is wall mounted so you really need to think about where it should go before we arrive. For ideal coverage it should be placed at the center of your home, at around waist height, so the signal can reach as much of the house as possible. The router is powered so needs to be near a plug socket.
Delta installation – those installations which aren’t standard.
Delta installations are those that are outside of the above “Standard Installations”. The process for arranging these area as follows
- If you require a non-standard install, this needs to be noted at the point of placing your service order form.
- We will then allocate a survey slot when the network build in your area is nearing completion
- We will provide a quote based on the below price list
- An agreement is drawn up and we programme the works required to connect your property to our ultrafast network
