Truespeed’s mission is simple, provide the South West with ultrafast, full-fibre broadband that will benefit the region for generations to come. It’s no easy task so we’re thrilled our efforts have been recognised by Insider Media, who have shortlisted Truespeed for ‘Company of the Year’ at their 2020 Dealmaker Awards.

Derived from a simple idea of wanting to help people, Truespeed has come a long way since it secured a £75million investment from Aviva in 2017. Developing in size and strength, the team has grown from under 20 to now 135 and counting. With a team comprised of talented and local individuals, Truespeed prides itself on providing people of all ages and abilities, with unparalleled career opportunities. We strive to create environments where people can thrive, and are honoured that Business Insider South West has recognised our efforts to create a positive working environment.

The South West has been plagued by poor connectivity for years. Ignored by larger providers who favour easier to connect, more profitable areas, the South West has been parked firmly in the digital slow lane. However, despite the challenges that come with deploying full-fibre, the team is working tirelessly to bring the region the connectivity it deserves. Starting by connecting some its remotest and hardest to reach rural areas, Truespeed has expanded its network to bring more businesses and residents ultrafast connectivity than ever before.

June 2020 saw Truespeed tackle its first city head on, and used an array of intricate deployment techniques to connect the historic city of Wells to some of the fastest broadband speeds in the world. The challenges that come with rolling out a brand-new network where other providers refuse are plentiful, so we’re incredibly proud our perseverance has contributed to why we’ve been shortlisted for 2020’s ‘Company of the Year’.

There are some fantastic companies shortlisted for this year’s awards and it’s great to see the South West being home to such an array of talent and innovation. Good luck to all the finalists and we look forward to celebrating with you on the night!
