We’re delighted to have started rolling out our ultrafast, full-fibre broadband network in Glastonbury, propelling the world-renowned festival town, and the alleged birthplace of King Arthur, into the gigabit era. This expansion also includes kicking off our network build in neighbouring Shepton Mallet and Street.
More than 15,000 premises across these 3 areas of Somerset are set to benefit from Truespeed’s gigabit-capable brand-new network infrastructure. Our broadband is truly better as we give our customers their own dedicated fibre-optic cable directly to their door, guaranteeing both upload and download speeds and ultra-low latency and contention rates. This will bring residents, businesses, GP surgeries and schools mega-star reliability and lightning-fast, crystal-clear connectivity – even at peak times – for decades to come.
Our team of engineers are going the extra mile to minimise local disruption and accelerate the network build. We use flexible deployment techniques to avoid digging up roads, such as connecting fibre-optic cables to existing ducting and poles carrying telephone and power lines, and perseveres and succeeds in securing access permissions for third-party infrastructure and private land. Over 600 customers across Glastonbury, Street and Shepton Mallet have already signed up, many of whom are ready to receive the ultrafast service before Christmas 2021.
Glastonbury is an iconic region of the South West and we’re thrilled to be adding gigabit broadband to the long list of positive attributes the region already has under its belt.
“Truespeed’s investment will bring cutting-edge broadband connectivity to the area, which can’t come quick enough for our businesses and residents. It’s a win-win working with a regionally based and community-minded supplier like Truespeed who has significant understanding and sensitivity about rolling out full-fibre networks in both rural and urban areas of Somerset.”
Brad Lister, Head of Commercial Activity for Glastonbury Abbey
